The Brain Injury
Rehabilitation Trust offers community support and enablement
services for people with acquired brain injury who may also have a
physical or sensory disability.
Our accommodation based services offer people the
chance to live in the community but with all the support they need
up to 24 hours a day.
Home support is also widely available across the
country to support people living in their own homes. We can set up
home support virtually anywhere in response to need.
The goal of community services is to make sure that
progress made during residential rehabilitation is continued once
someone returns to living in the community. Each person will be
supported to develop a person centred support plan which embraces
their lifestyle choices whilst ensuring their individual support
needs are met.
Before someone is offered either a supported
housing scheme or home support, BIRT will make an assessment visit.
We also liaise closely with social services and other relevant
agencies to make sure the service offered meets a service user's
individual needs.
