BIRT-News-122015_(19)

The Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust (BIRT) was delighted to have held the Trust’s first ever webinar. The webinar was held on Wednesday 18th November 2015 and hosted by Trust’s behavioural scientist John McCrea and Policy and Campaigns Manager Sarah Rufrancos. It covered the effects of brain injury and included a session on how to use our Brain Injury Needs Indicator (BINI) and was very well received by all who attended.

The webinar provided specific information on:

  • The ways a brain injury may affect the people you work with
  • Why identifying a ‘lack of insight’ is so important
  • The BINI’s development, its links to the Care Act and its role in assessments
  • How the BINI can help to identify the needs of someone with a brain injury
  • Where to learn more about brain injury and what to do next

If you are interested in learning more, we are pleased to be able to offer spaces for free on our second webinar on Thursday 10th December 2015 from 10:30am-11:30am. We intend to run more webinars throughout 2016. At present webinars are only open to professionals who have already registered to download the BINI. If your colleagues would like to attend, please ask them to register for the BINI at www.birt.co.uk/bini

Future webinars will be hosted by John McCrea, who has an extensive background in providing brain injury training to professionals, and Sarah Rufrancos, part of the team behind the development of the BINI. Please send any questions or comments in advance to bini@thedtgroup.org as the webinars are being constantly reviewed and developed to meet attendees’ needs.
