BIRT achieves exemplary CARF accreditation!

CARF gold sealBIRT is proud and delighted to announce that it has received another CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) Three Year Accreditation for all its services, following an in-depth and rigorous assessment process in May.

To achieve accreditation BIRT's services had to demonstrate to the CARF survey team, who travelled to BIRT's services from American in May, that it had been meeting over 1600 standards across clinical and business practices consistently for the last 3 years.

At the end of June BIRT received the CARF Survey Report which confirmed the three year accreditation, and listed 31 organisational strengths, and 2 exemplary conformances. These 'exemplaries' are awarded only if an organisation can demonstrate practices that CARF regards as being at a world class standard.

Professor Michael Oddy, BIRT's Director of Clinical Services, said, "Naturally, we are very pleased to have received CARF accreditation again. The rehabilitation and brain injury standards, which make up more than half the 1600 standards, have helped us to further improve our clinical practices and achieve consistency across all the Trust's services."
