We are delighted to announce that Dr Miles Rogish, Consultant Clinical Psychologist at the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust’s (BIRT) York House has been shortlisted for the Laing Buisson Awards 2015 in the Excellence in Training category.
After completing a course on Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT), Dr Rogish has become increasingly involved in using the compassionate mind approach to develop stress management training for staff working in a brain injury rehabilitation setting. This approach aims to promote a person’s wellbeing through the scientific understanding and application of compassion.
Research Fellow, Sara da Silva Ramos, said “The training was very well received by staff who attended and actively engaged in all the sessions. They felt the training was helpful to enable them work with behaviour that challenges, as well as with difficult situations outside work.”
Other Clinical Psychologists will be trained in CFT to deliver the course more widely within the large team at York House, and increasing evidence of effectiveness in improving the wellbeing of both the work force and the service user base, will see the training approach extended to other BIRT services in the near future.
