House Of Commons Reception
November 2009
In November the Trust held a 30th anniversary reception
for over 100 people in the House of Commons hosted by Conservative MP and Friend
of the Trust, Adam Afryie.
As well as celebrating 30 years of successfully developing
and providing services of the highest quality for disabled people, we also wanted
to use the occasion to outline some of the Trust’s most pressing concerns such
as the threat of deep cuts in public spending, the challenge of personalisation
and the increasing burden of regulation on charities.
In their speeches, both Chair of Trustees Peter Jackson and Chief Executive Barrie Oldham emphasized
the particular importance of maintaining frontline spending on health and especially
social care services, despite the current economic and financial difficulties,
so that charities like the Trust can continue to expand their provision to meet
the needs and expectations of disabled people.
