The Government this week announced changes to disability benefits which are set to have a significant impact on the lives of disabled people.

CEO of The Disabilities Trust Irene Sobowale commented:

"It is difficult to see how losing up to £3,500 a year* will support disabled people to live as independently as possible, if the proposed changes are implemented.

"We ask that the Government carefully considers the long-term impact before removing or reducing funding that is so vital.

"We will be working alongside other charities to ensure these concerns are heard by the Government."

*Institute for Fiscal Studies’ analysis that changes to Personal Independence Payment may result in 370,000 people with disabilities losing £3,500 every year.
