In the Trust
It has been a busy few weeks for Policy and Campaigns within the Trust. Cleethorpes MP Martin Vickers visited Goole Neurorehabilitation Centre (GNRC) on February 26th to talk about brain injury. The Trust’s Chief Executive and Director of Communications attended a dinner event hosted by VODG (Voluntary Organisations Disability Group). VODG is a grouping of more than 80 voluntary sector disability organisations, including The Disabilities Trust, and the dinner was attended by high-ranking figures across the third and public sector including Minister for Community and Social Care Alistair Burt MP.
Dr Sara da Silva Ramos presented research on the Brain Injury Needs Indicator (BINI) at an international conference in the Netherlands. The Department of Health have issued revised Care Act Guidance, which specifically cites the BINI as a tool to identify the deficits associated with brain injury during a social care assessment (see 6.43 within linked document.) Further webinar training on the BINI is available from April.
