In the Trust

  • Brigg and Goole MP Andrew Percy visited Goole Neurorehabilitation Centre (GNRC) on 20th May. Mr Percy has always been a great supporter of GNRC and it was a pleasure to welcome him back. He met with people living at GNRC and spoke about local brain injury pathways with staff.
  • The Queen’s Speech marking the official state opening of Parliament took place on 18th May. Around twenty new bills to be made law over the next year were outlined. Of particular interest to the Trust is the reform around prisons, including greater emphasis on rehabilitation to reduce reoffending rates. NCVO (The National Council for Voluntary Organisations) has analysed all of the bills announced that are likely to have an impact on charities.
  • Following the recent Louis Theroux documentary featuring people supported by BIRT, we have received warm messages from politicians across the country. Watch this space for details about future visits by Members of Parliament and the Welsh Assembly to our centres.
  • The referendum on whether Britain should remain a member of the EU will take place on Thursday 23rd June. The deadline to register to vote is midnight, Tuesday 7th June.
