Mark, a service user from Reading, has recently started to go out into the community to enhance his abilities and gain confidence of other locals groups in the Reading area.
Each week he now goes to a coffee morning held by Age UK, where he makes teas and coffees, takes the money, whilst talking with the attendees. He then helps clear up afterwards.
Mark enjoys this activity and hopes to expand on his duties in the future.
Three service users, Joannah, Corrine and Jennifer, from Reading had a great day out in London recently. They visited the O2 Arena, and had the chance to experience flying in an Emirates Airlines simulator! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed seeing the hustle and bustle of London’s busy streets and Joannah hasn’t stopped asking to return!
A community house in Readingrecently teamed up with Prudential Insurance, as part of their volunteering community project. During the visit, the service users were asked what the order of the day was and then the eight volunteers started.
In all, they created a flower bed at the front of the house; two large pots; planted a sensory garden in the back; mowed both the front and back lawns; cleared paths and cut down trees and hedges. They then painted the entrance gates. The day was enjoyed by everyone and could well be repeated in the future.
