A specialist school for people with Autism

Why choose Heathermount?

"Heathermount School has changed my son's life and ours as a family... My son is now the boy I knew he could be." Nicola Prout, parent.

Heathermount School is a non-maintained special needs school, specialising in a broad and balanced education for children and young people aged 5-19 years with Autistic Spectrum Conditions. Our bespoke approach and expertise in autism helps students who may not have been able to engage in education to thrive. Rated ‘Good’ by OFSTED and catering for up to 54 day students, we’re located within 14 acres of beautiful Ascot grounds, which create a calming environment to help manage anxieties.

National Curriculum and vocational qualifications

All our students access the National Curriculum and all are entered for nationally recognised accreditations, which include GCSEs. Running in tandem with the National Curriculum, we offer a range of vocational qualifications, which include Skills for Working Life, and work experience opportunities.

Our flexible approach

We take a flexible approach to admissions and offer individual, bespoke learning packages to our students, dependent upon ability, needs, and interests. This means both stage of learning and the student’s age are reviewed and teaching is delivered to suit the individual’s needs and past experiences of education.

A specialist Autism (ASD) school

We pride ourselves on our special education as a specialist Autism (ASD) school. Our approach to challenging behaviour is multi-professional, which means we look at behaviour management, but also sensory issues and dietary impact. In addition, nature is very important to our culture and we have new ‘outdoor classroom’ that students can use and enjoy.
