Dr Ivan Pitman will be speaking at The All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Acquired Brain Injury Round Table Discussion on 27th February 2018. This issue under review is:
Brain injury is a public health challenge of vast but insufficiently recognised proportions. Brain injury is a major cause of death and disability but systems of care vary greatly, and disconnects exist in the chain of care.
Ivan is the Clinical Lead and Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist at the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust (BIRT) centre Redford Court in Liverpool and to the BIRT Community Services within the North West. He previously worked extensively within forensic services providing identification, assessment and rehabilitation for offenders with acquired brain injuries. Dr Pitman was also the Head of Service within the North West and the Senior Clinical Tutor within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Liverpool and is now involved with The Disabilities Trust Foundation in an investigation of the prevalence and impact of Traumatic Brain Injury among prisoners.
