BBC Three Counties Radio presenter, Gareth Lloyd, will host the event at St George’s School Hall, Sun Lane, on May 8th at 7pm. Six bands from Harpenden’s three senior schools will perform before an audience and celebrity judging panel, including Kate Mullins and Emma Smith from the award winning Puppini Sisters and X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent Voice Coach, Anni Williams.
Each band will perform two songs of their choice for a chance to win a major prize and title of Battle of the Bands champions.
Proceeds from the event will support Harpenden Lion’s chosen charities with 50% of the funds being donated to the Eyes Alight Appeal to support the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust(BIRT).
The Eye’s Alight Appeal was set up by Izzy Judd and her family after her brother Rupert Johnston suffered serious brain injury in a near fatal car accident.
The 2014 Harpenden Lion’s Battle of the bands raised an impressive £3,500 for the Eyes Alight Appeal, which contributed towards specialist facilities at BIRT service, Kent House, a specialist residential centre providing continuing rehabilitation and expert care and support for people with acquired brain injury.
