Nursing staff throughout the country are celebrating nurses day on Friday 12th May which is the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth. Although we highlight the work we do throughout the year, this day gives us a platform to shout about our good work.
The day also provides an opportunity for others to thank the nurses and their teams for the support they have provided. Often the dedication and commitment shown by nurses is not as recognised as it should be; from the time spent with service users and families through the work done to improve lives and enhance independence, often in very challenging circumstances.
Nurses hold different roles in The Disabilities Trust but the main focus is to ensure that the complexities of health and care support required are met while promoting independence to meet rehabilitation needs.
