Dr Dane Rowley

BIRT Clinical Psychologist appointed Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Hull.

Dr Dane Rowley, Clinical Psychologist at the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust (BIRT) service, Daniel Yorath House in Leeds, has been made Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Hull.

Dr Rowley undertook his doctoral training at Hull and continues his relationship with the University by supervising Doctorate students and lecturing on brain injury.

Research is a particular interest of his and the University conferred the honour whilst Dr Rowley has been undertaking a project with Dr Kevin Riggs, Reader in Psychology at the University. The research project is investigating how brain injury affects an individual’s ability to understand the perspectives of other people, and the mechanisms in the brain that may make this more difficult for persons with brain injury.

Dr Rowley sees this as a very positive move for BIRT and the University: “We hope that this will facilitate closer academic links between both organisations and enable us to collaborate on more research in the future. We have a few things in the pipeline at the moment and we hope to be sending three study applications to the BIRT ethics committee in the coming months.”
