About Kerwin Court

Kerwin Court is a brain injury rehabilitation centre where people initially come for a 12-week assessment period, where they begin a period of rehabilitation to support their recovery. This is then reviewed and may be extended to allow for further rehabilitation to be supported.

Facilities

The main centre comprises sixteen en-suite bedrooms and several independent living units. There are two fully equipped rehabilitation kitchens used to support individuals to regain their daily living skills, alongside three communal lounges, a courtyard, and three activities rooms.

We have several specialist assessment and therapy rooms and a beautiful private garden to aid recovery.

Our rehabilitation models

Our specialist rehabilitation is based on a neuro-behavioural approach and focuses on enabling people to function more independently and develop their lives as they choose. The multi-disciplinary team has specialist assessment and therapy rooms to aid individuals in recovery.

The programme may include:

  • Educational and therapeutic sessions
  • Support for personal, social, and domestic skills
  • Guided leisure time
  • Community access
  • Vocational support and training

The people we support are actively involved in reviewing their progress against agreed outcomes, and we promote the involvement of families in the rehabilitation process.

Home leave is encouraged wherever possible.

Becoming more independent

In addition to the main centre, there are a two flats and five additional bungalows within the grounds where people can strengthen their skills before moving onto a more independent environment.

Access to the wider community forms an important part of the rehabilitation journey. Its proximity to the West Sussex town of Horsham, with its many shops and leisure facilities, makes Kerwin Court well situated for social interaction and offers opportunities for education and work placements.
