Redford Court are presenting a free educational seminar Struggling with addiction: Supporting adults with brain injury with an addictive past. The seminar will be held on Wednesday 14th March from 9:30am to 4pm at Devonshire Hotel, 293-297 Edge Lane, Liverpool, L7 9LD.

Sponsored by Thorneycroft Solicitors, this event is for health and social care professionals working in the field of brain injury, including GPs, Commissioners, Consultants in Rehabilitation Medicine, Neuropsychologists, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Social Workers and Case Managers.

The seminar will identify the struggles individuals experience during rehabilitation as they adjust to the new-found challenges consequent to their brain injury, in addition to managing their addictive pasts and learned behaviours. It will address services that are available for addiction support and share case studies of people supported at Redford Court who have successfully battled addictions during rehabilitation and now live with increased independence.

Presenters at the event include members of Redford Court’s Multidisciplinary Clinical Team; Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist, Dr Ivan Pitman and Alcohol Outreach Nurse, Diane Sedman. There will also be discussion on the challenges of addiction following leaving the Forces from PJ Smith, Recovery Lead at Tom Harrison House: Military Veteran Addiction Centre.
