Thomas Edward Mitton House service user, Nigel, has made huge progress since his discharge in May 2016. His wife, Anne, wrote to the service to let them know how he was getting along:

“Nigel's been having a lot of physio privately and through Headway, and also going to a gym designed for people with disabilities called West Berkshire Therapy Centre in Thatcham. As a result he can now do some supported walking. He took part in a recent sponsored walk, and managed 75m which was more than he expected to.

“He's raised over £500 thanks to the generosity of our friends. He's also now able to walk up stairs, again with the support of one other person. This meant that on a recent cruise he was able to get on to a regular coach to do a number of excursions which really made the holiday even better and 'normal'. He's been able to do seat-to-seat transfers now for a while, no more equipment for that.

“He's joined Sportsable at Maidenhead and taken up archery, using a mouth tab, so that's going well, he's entering a competition later in November. He's entered a couple of Air Rifle competitions and won his class at the Middlesex Open competition held at Bisley in September, so that was great.”
