On Friday 8th July, the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust (BIRT) centre West Heath House held a free seminar for health and social care professionals on 'Brain Injury - the real Olympic challenge: recognising hidden obstacles and maximising an individual's full potential'.
The event also covered the Brain Injury Needs Indicator (BINI) - a new tool developed for identifying brain injury and associated needs, presented by Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist Dr Ivan Pitman.
Susan Todhunter, Partner at FBC Manby Bowdler Solicitors, the seminar sponsors, gave a presentation on 'How solicitors help the brain injured client reach for gold!'
The clinical team from West Heath House presented two case studies to highlight clinical interventions and outcomes following neurobehavioural rehabilitation, which were well received by the delegates.
Overall, those who attended the seminar said that it was extremely informative, with many particularly interested in the BINI and its applications and the case studies regarding the service users.
“Good introduction to BINI which will be useful to take back to the workplace”.
“Looking forward to using and registering for the BINI”.
“Well balanced topics, good to hear from service users”.
“Very interesting speakers, particularly liked the case studies and how relating practice to theory works”.
