About Fen House

Fen House is a brain injury rehabilitation centre where people initially come for a 12-week assessment period, where they begin a rehabilitation period to support their recovery. This is then reviewed and may be extended to allow for further rehabilitation to be supported.

Facilities

Our rehabilitation centre and transitional living support are in attractive landscaped grounds in Ely, in the heart of East Anglia. We can accommodate up to 25 people in comfortable ensuite bedrooms. There is a specialist-assisted bathroom, two large communal lounges, a large activities room, two therapy rooms and two specialist-equipped rehabilitation skills kitchens where people can learn skills in a supported and safe learning environment and a large landscaped private garden.

Our rehabilitation models

Our specialist rehabilitation is based on a neuro-behavioural approach and focuses on enabling people to function more independently and develop their lives as they choose. The multi-disciplinary team has specialist assessment and therapy rooms to aid individuals’ recovery.

The programme may include:

  • Educational and therapeutic sessions
  • Support for personal, social, and domestic skills
  • Guided leisure time
  • Behavioural management
  • Community access
  • Vocational support and training

The people we support are actively involved in reviewing their progress against agreed outcomes, and we promote the involvement of families in the rehabilitation process. Home leave is encouraged wherever possible.

Becoming more independent

In addition to the main centre, we have a one-bedroom transitional supported living flat within its grounds where people can strengthen their skills before moving onto a more independent environment.

Access to the wider community forms an integral part of the rehabilitation journey. Fen House’s proximity to shops and leisure facilities, as well as the easy access to Cambridge, makes it ideally situated for community integration. These locations also offer opportunities for education, training, and work placements.
