Business Development Manager, Catherine Portman, and West Heath House Service Manager, Amanda Haynes, knitted themed ‘hats’ for Cadbury Creme Eggs this Easter to fundraise for The Disabilities Trust. From bunnies to chicks, the cute characters were sold with a creme egg in the run up to the bank holiday weekend.

The ladies received much support for their fundraiser, which they decided to name ‘Eggsta-Knit’. Requests came in for their knitted and crocheted creatures and they managed to sell every last one. They raised a total of £321.50, more than double their target of £150. Catherine said:

We were overwhelmed with the support. Every chick, bunny and owl was sold (even the ‘owl reject’!) A huge thank you to all our friends, colleagues and anyone else who donated.

The money raised by Catherine and Amanda will be put towards the ConnectAbility Appeal. The appeal is funding assistive communications technology to maximise disabled individuals’ ability to make choices and communicate. It continues to transform lives by introducing equipment, such as eye trackers and e-readers, which can increase the independence of the people supported by The Disabilities Trust.
