On Sunday 22nd April, Leigh Sanders will be tackling the London Marathon after many weeks of training and fundraising. Leigh is a Programme Director at Trib3 gym. He completed his first half marathon last year and immediately knew he wanted to test himself and push his limits to take on a full marathon in 2018. He was soon signed up to run the London Marathon in aid of theBrain Injury Rehabilitation Trust(BIRT).

Last Friday, less than a week after running the Sheffield half marathon and with just under two weeks to go until the London Marathon, Leigh took on a pre-marathon to fundraise and raise awareness. Running on a treadmill placed behind the Reception at Trib3, he greeted clients while running the 26.2 miles, and even shared some live streamed clips on the gym’s Facebook page which have had over 2000 views.

After Friday’s challenge Leigh said: “With battered and blistered toes I am feeling so grateful to all the amazing people who generously donated and sent messages of support. I feel honoured to represent BIRT on Sunday in the London Marathon.”

Hayley Wicker-Bradbury, Fundraising Manager for The Disabilities Trust, thanked Leigh for his support: “We are blown away by Leigh’s commitment to raising funds and awareness for BIRT in the lead up to the marathon. His efforts will make it possible to equip a sensory room which will enhance the lives of the people we support.
