This week, we thanked our fantastic volunteers for their contribution to supporting services, to mark Volunteers' Week, an annual celebration organised by NCVO.

Irene Sobowale, Chief Executive, said: “I'd like to recognise and thank the fantastic volunteers at the Trust, who give of their time and energy so generously. Thanks to their hard work & dedication, we're able to improve the lives of the men, women & children in our care”.

Cards, certificates, chocolates and flowers were showered upon volunteers as well as a special treat for husband and wife volunteers Alex and Rose Gillespie, who were awarded an overnight stay in a hotel by Room to Reward for all their hard work at Graham Anderson House in Scotland where their son is receiving rehabilitation following a brain injury. Social media was awash with photographs of the corporate support Cisco, Lloyds and Minster Law gave over the past 12 months. We've been sharing opportunities to get involved, and messages of thanks to special individuals like Janet who after over a decade at the Trust is leaving for pastures new, and the Tesco Community Team in Eastbourne who go above and beyond in their generosity to support The Disabilities Trust.

Fundraising Manager Hayley Wicker-Bradbury said: “This is the ideal opportunity to say thank you to each volunteer who support the Trust in their individual ways. Our services really enjoy engaging with corporate supports and the public and the results are amazing; from gardens, maintenance and DIY to teaching French and helping with activities, these volunteers have a great impact on the people we support. We like to thank our volunteers more then just once a year, but we welcome the specific week to showcase the brilliant talents and efforts of those who give up their time”.
