"The best bit is when unexpected things happen. You think you have a plan, but it can change all of a sudden, and you have to adapt. Every hour and every day is different, I really enjoy that." - Richard, Assistant Manager
We’re looking for people to support our service users with autism to lead a full and meaningful life. You don’t need to have experience of working in care, as we’ll provide full training, induction and ongoing support and supervision. We want to make sure you’ll have the skills and knowledge you need to do a great job. We want you to go home at the end of your working day knowing you have made a positive difference to our service users’ lives.
We have Support Worker vacancies in our community houses and service
The Maples, in the Reading and Maidenhead areas. Part-time and full-time vacancies are available with our teams in Sonning Common, Maidenhead and Tokers Green.
Our staff teams support our service users in their day to day activities, both in their home environments and in the community. For example, you might support an individual with his/her personal care routine, with leisure and pleasure activities, hobbies and interests (eg going to the gym, cinema, local park), and with independent living activities (eg shopping, planning and cooking meals, money management).
Some of our service users have behaviours that may challenge at times, so our staff teams need good communication skills, patience and flexibility. IT and time management skills are also key in delivering our service.
If you have a genuine desire to support people to become more independent, and a wish to work as part of a committed team, apply now.
The Disabilities Trust offers many employee benefits, including generous annual leave allowances from day one, Perkbox, an online discount scheme, discounted gym membership. We want our staff to feel trusted, supported and rewarded - find out what our staff have to say.
