On Sunday 24th July, Gary Byrne competed in the Castle Howard Triathlon in north Yorkshire, to raise £1,000 for BIRT centre Osman House. The Olympic distance triathlon consisted of a 1500m swim, a 45km bike ride, and a 10km run.

Gary decided to raise money for Osman House as his daughter, Katie, is an assistant psychologist at the centre. Gary said “Seeing the amount of commitment she and the staff have for their jobs was enough for me to think I should do my bit and raise a few pounds for them. To have organisations like the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust (BIRT) supporting people through such events is hugely important and valued”.

I was also very fortunate to visit the House – seeing what the service users and their families are going through makes competing in a triathlon easy work.”
