The information on this page is designed for service users' families, carers and friends. It will give you an insight into what we do, together with an overview of our assessment process.

Our service users are encouraged to live as independently as possible and we are making increasing use of assistive technologies. Equipment ranges from sophisticated automatic environmental controls to simple household appliances that enable independent living skills, confidence building and improve communication and personal care skills.

We actively promote family involvement and seek to include service users in every decision affecting their lives. We also offer support, education and continuing help for families, carers and friends. We make sure that any complaints are listened to and responded to within given timescales, and regularly review and monitor our service to ensure effectiveness and quality.

Our philosophy

Our disability services also offer independent living skills training programmes, either at local colleges or within our centres. For those who are actively seeking to move from a residential to a community based setting, support is offered according to individual requirements.

Our trained and committed staff ensure that people are at the centre of all we do. We support and encourage service users to live as independently as possible, without a 'one-size-fits-all' approach.

We also use technology to promote independence: anything from an adapted kettle through to highly sophisticated, automatic environmental controls and specialist communications aids, all to enable people to gain independent living skills and build confidence.

Living at one of our disability services

Our services' surroundings are developed to the highest standards. All centres offer a safe, comfortable environment with extensive grounds and gardens for people to enjoy.

Decorated to the individual's taste, with modern interiors, the clean, bright rooms offer a homely and inviting place to live. They give privacy, peace of mind and freedom of choice, yet with staff on hand at any time of day to offer support.

Each of our residents has the opportunity to contribute to the running and development of the service we provide, including the recruitment of staff, and we are committed to the empowerment of service users. Each person is fully involved in all decisions affecting their lives.
