Welcome to Shinewater Court

Located in Eastbourne, East Sussex, we are a purpose built centre, providing accommodation. We support adults with a range of disabilities including cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, arthritis, multiple sclerosis and disabilities resulting from accidents or a stroke. We are committed to ensuring that people have control over their lives and are treated with dignity and respect at all times.

Quality Services

The Disabilities Trust has 30 years' experience in tailoring quality support packages for individuals, to enhance their independence and deliver cost-effective outcomes in a person-centred environment.

We recognise that different life experiences need a different provision, and we are continuously adapting and evolving to meet these challenges.

We use assistive technology to promote independence: anything from an adapted kettle through to highly sophisticated, automatic environmental controls and specialist communications aids, which enable people to gain independent living skills and build confidence.

Our Philosophy

We are committed to providing an environment that supports personal development, confidence and independence, and service users are encouraged to take part in a wide range of social, vocational and recreational activities.

As well as providing physical care, our focus at Shinewater Court is on maintaining and maximising service users' quality of life, therefore giving people real choice, options and control over their lives, and our numerous success stories demonstrate that this is possible for anyone, regardless of the severity of their disabilities. Each person is fully involved in all decisions that may affect them.

We offer a person-centred approach to support and service users are encouraged to take part in a wide range of educational and recreational activities including cooking, art and crafts, exercise, laundry, personal safety, financial management and IT.

ConnectAbility Hub

An exciting new ConnectAbility Hub opened in October 2017, at Shinewater Court where you can try specialist assistive and communications technology and get advice in a safe and friendly environment. This is a free service open to anyone with a disability.
