Welcome to Victoria House

Located near Hull, we are a purpose built centre which provides accommodation and support for people with complex and high dependency needs, giving independence and lifestyle choices for adults with physical disabilities. Victoria House forms part of the nationwide Disability services from The Disabilities Trust. Victoria House supports people with a range of disabilities including cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida and arthritis, multiple sclerosis and disabilities resulting from accidents or a stroke. As well as providing physical care, it is committed to ensuring that people have control over their lives and are treated with dignity and respect at all times.

Quality Services

The Disabilities Trust has 30 years' experience in tailoring quality support packages for individuals, to enhance their independence and deliver cost-effective outcomes in a person-centred environment.

We recognise that different life experiences need a different provision, and we are continuously adapting and evolving to meet these challenges.

We use assistive technology to promote independence: anything from an adapted kettle through to highly sophisticated, automatic environmental controls and specialist communications aids, which enable people to gain independent living skills and build confidence.

We offer a person-centred approach to support and service users are encouraged to take part in a wide range of educational and recreational activities including cooking, art and crafts, exercise, laundry, personal safety, financial management and IT.

Our Philosophy

Victoria House is committed to providing an environment that encourages personal development, confidence and independence, and service users are encouraged to take part in a wide range of social, vocational and recreational activities.

As well as providing physical care, our focus at Victoria House is on maintaining and maximising service users' quality of life, therefore giving people real choice, options and control over their lives and our numerous success stories demonstrate that this is possible for anyone, regardless of the severity of their disabilities.

We ensure that any complaints are listened to and responded to within given timescales, and regularly review and monitor our service to ensure effectiveness and quality. Each person is fully involved in all decisions that may affect them. We also offer independent living skills training programmes, either at local colleges or within the centre.

Victoria House is about one mile from the centre of Hull, with its wide range of shopping, leisure and educational facilities. There are good connections to national transport routes, with regular train services, an international airport and ferries to Europe. Leeds and York are both within an hour's drive. The seaside attractions of the east coast are nearby.
