Service users and staff at Redford Court are extremely grateful to for their generous donation that has paid for a new Bariatric Couch in their Physiotherapy Gym.

The new Bariatric Couch, also known as a Bobath Plinth, has equipped the Physiotherapy team to provide treatment techniques in a safer environment for taller service users and service users with complex needs at Redford Court. It has a wide treatment surface and increased lifting capacity, ideal for both service user and therapist.

So far, individuals who have used the new equipment have reported feeling 'secure and motivated' to engage in their rehabilitation treatment because of the enhanced environment it offers; Paul said "I like the new challenge of stretching my legs with Maria on the big plinth."

Service users at our Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust (BIRT) services that need to improve their muscle strength, articular mobility, transfers, balance and flexibility are able to work out their bodies in a safe secure environment, and from the Physiotherapists, the couch has allowed them to use additional treatment modalities to help service users achieve their goals.
