A mobile app is revolutionising the way staff at our services arrange their shifts and rotas, making timesheets a thing of the past.
Our 1300 staff who work directly with service users at our centres and community services across the UK are now using the software, called Planday. Available on their smartphone or on devices in the service, Planday means they can see when their shifts are, edit their availability in real-time, and sign up for available extra shifts/overtime well in advance to fit in with their preferences with their family and home life. Planday also enables our support workers, nurses, team leaders and therapy assistants to communicate easily between themselves and with their managers, without having to rely on emails. Support worker Paula said "Planday is an easy app to use, instead of timesheets."
Blythe Senior, Junior Project Manager, said ‘We chose a staff scheduling tool like Planday to further improve time efficiency and resources taken in planning and monitoring rotas and shift patterns. It’s certainly delivering this. Our Managers really like being able to easily communicate with their teams and having a live, transparent schedule that staff can access."
Geraint Thomas, Technology Transformation Partner for the Disabilities Trust, who has led the Planday project team, said, "Feedback from our support teams has been really positive – they like being able to set their availability preferences, and see where they can swap shifts easily and quickly. So far, all indications are that this project is a great development for our organisation."
