Despite these challenging times, we have some good news to celebrate - after two of our services were awarded ‘Outstanding’ by the care watchdog Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Services at both Jane Percy House in Northumberland, as well as the Woodmill in Devon, have both been awarded the top accolade by the CQC, which puts them in the top two percent of care providers in England.
Staff, and those in our care, at Jane Percy House, which supports individuals with complex and high dependency needs, enjoyed much-deserved special cupcakes to mark the occasion, which is all the more special given the current circumstances.
Lindsey Tate, Services Manager, says: “I am proud we have achieved the outstanding rating, as we aspire to enhance the lives of the people who live at Jane Percy House.
“We have the most amazing, caring staff team. During this difficult time, they have been working tirelessly to ensure we continue to operate with safe levels of staff by cancelling annual leave, increasing activities and coming in with the positive attitude, even though there are worries for us all.
“The entire staff team were proud of achieving the Outstanding, as it is an acknowledgement of the hard work everyone delivers. The staff were also appreciative of the cupcakes Irene sent as a thank you!!”
The outstanding staff at The Woodmill, which provides specialist neuro-behavioural rehabilitative care for people with an acquired brain injury (ABI), also enjoyed the celebratory treats. The Woodmill is sadly closing as a service because of a lack of demand from commissioners. The quality of the care was never in doubt.
Adrian Kennedy, Services Manager, praised the professionalism of his staff, saying: “There has not been a moment where the dedication of the staff team dropped one iota. They remain completely focussed on the needs of the people we support and their families.”
