Service users at Thomas Edward Mitton House in Milton Keynes have recently had a colourful addition to their physiotherapy room.
The people who live at centre which decided that the room was very plain and not very inviting so the Milton Keynes Society of Artists was approached to see if any of their artists wished to paint a mural.
Ken Hudson took up the challenge: “This was an opportunity that very much appealed to me due to the enjoyment that my previous murals brought to those that saw them. It was fulfilling and satisfying to be able to volunteer my services for such an important project such as this one.”
Ken is a self-taught artist who started at the age of about 5 years old and hasn't stopped since. In particular, he enjoys painting portraits and seeing the joy that it brings to people when they receive them. More of Ken’s artwork can be seen at www.kenhudsonart.co.uk
Everybody enjoys the mural and service users really like going to the room now. One said that they love doing their physio ‘at the seaside’ as they can imagine that they are on holiday.
Ken was very generous and didn’t charge for his work but did thank Dulux Select who, as he is a decorator using their products, kindly donated some of the materials.
There are now plans to have the gym and part of the dining room painted using fundraised money and Donna Cooper, Head of Care at TEM was very keen to thank Ken. “The mural has really made a difference and we are so grateful to Ken.”
